Ray de Avila
Offensive Coach
Coach de Avila is in his third year as offensive coach for Newport Harbor.
Coach de Avila has been working with all skill positions at all levels for over 25 years in a variety of capacities, including the previous four years as passing game coordinator and offensive assistant for Orange Coast College.
Coach de Avila attended Saddleback Community College in 1980-81 where he played football for the Gauchos who ended the season 11-0 and Mission Bowl Champions. He later transferred to San Diego State University where he graduated with a degree in Business and Communications.
Coach de Avila has had the good fortune of playing, working with and learning from some of the best offensive coaches in Southern California. He is devoted to working closely with athletes to build core quarterback competencies. He coached at both Irvine High School and Saddleback Valley Christian, where during his 3-year tenure as offensive coach and coordinator the Warriors averaged 37 points per game and won 3 consecutive league championships.
Coach de Avila works with with sales and leadership teams (day job) and resides in Newport Beach with his beautiful wife, Lisa and 3 boys – Luke, Jack and Carson.
