Class of 2025 Football Players Wanted

Happy Memorial Day Everyone,

Freshman football (high school athletics in general, but for boys, especially football) are a huge benefit to anyone willing to give it a try.  Think of it this way, “your kids have to go to school, but choose to play a sport.”

Why choose football?
Football creates a special bond. A brotherhood. One of the reasons is because “you can’t hide” in football.  Kids are judged on their character and effort.  You might be doing great until a play knocks you down… and you will get knocked down – this is the time you get up.   But when you have a brotherhood, you don’t get up by yourself.  You get up with other bodies on the ground, as a team, and get back in there.  This football understanding builds a bond like no other (unless your boy goes into the military, this will be the only experience like this he will ever have). This bond leads to accountability and lifelong friends.

Football is the ultimate team sport. To win, you “need numbers” (e.g. players).  Right now we have 45 kids signed up.  It would be better to have 50 kids.  And 55 kids would be better than that.  I don’t remember us having more than 55 kids playing freshman football (in the last 4 years at least)  – let’s try to “break the record” this year.

Come out June 14th at 2pm
For incoming 9th graders, probably the biggest benefit of playing freshman football is the friendships made in the summer before school even starts.  We have kids from Ensign, Mariners Christian School, Our Lady Queen of Angels, SMK Henry Gurney, Santiago Charter, CdM, Costa Mesa and home school.

But on Monday, June 14th – they are all Sailors.
